Current Opening for a Consulting Actuary


A Consulting Actuary delivers a wide range of actuarial services for our clients. The majority of our clients do not have staff actuaries and require ratemaking and analytical support in addition to core reserve-related activities. Projects are a mix of team-based and independent activities.

Remote work is the standard, but each employee also has an office and desk available in our downtown Minneapolis office. Hours worked each week are flexible in order to achieve a personal level of work-life balance.

Core Responsibilities
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Provide actuarial services that meet each client’s needs
  • Engage with clients
  • Work with data in multiple formats
  • Develop and document assumptions and projections
  • Finish projects and meet deadlines
Opportunities

For individuals with additional career goals, the following responsibilities would be included:

  • Develop models and tools
  • Assist with proposals and engagement letters
  • Attend client meetings in-person and/or virtually including Board of Director presentations
  • Generate new client relationships
Key Competencies
  • Analytical and mathematical proficiency
  • Knowledge of actuarial techniques and their applications
  • Ability to apply actuarial techniques appropriately
  • Attention to detail
  • Strong project coordination and organizational ability
  • Capability of managing multiple projects, deadlines, and client interactions
  • Expert knowledge of Microsoft Office software and additional software as needed
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
Education And/Or Experience
  • Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science degree or equivalent
  • Credentialed as an ACAS or FCAS
  • Minimum five years of actuarial experience
